We inspire young people to take a leap into the unknown. Our experienced instructors deliver excursions and camping weekends for schools, clubs and youth groups.
The great outdoors can be daunting, especially when travelling away from home or school. Our team make sure everyone has an educational and exhilarating experience.
We promote self-esteem, confidence, motivation and life skills through activities such
- Canoeing and Kayaking
- Raft building
- Mountain biking
- Gorge walking
- and, much more...
Our instructors and leaders are experts in their field. They relish the opportunity to share their knowledge with the young people they work with.
Nottinghamshire YMCA Education delivers bespoke sessions and programmes for Schools, Community organisations, young person agencies, charities and any other group who would like to get outside and sample the goods Nottinghamshire and the Peak District has to offer!
We specialise in working with young people and people with disabilities; providing personal development programmes, including goal setting and reviewing, to help develop personal/social skills and raise confidence, motivation and ultimately aspirations.
Here’s a rundown of some of the projects we’re currently working on:
Big Lottery Awards for All – Thanks to the Big Lottery we’re currently working on a project that
deliveries 3 x 6 week programmes to homeless young people from Nottinghamshire County. These programmes include outdoor education and digital media/creative arts sessions. The aim is to engage young who are not in education, employment or training and begin to make plans to positively move them on to further engagement in courses that are available to them.
Bluecoat School – We work with the exclusion unit of Bluecoat School every Thursday, providing outdoor adventures and working to develop personal skills such as communication, trust, respect, confidence and motivation
Zone Youth project – We partner with a local youth charity helping to deliver the outdoor
parts of some of their projects. This currently includes working with young homeless young people from Nottingham city and support local events for children and families.
Inspire – We also partner with a local disability charity, delivering outdoor adventures and offering new and exciting opportunities for disabled people from Nottingham city and Nottinghamshire County.
Carers Federation – We have delivered a number of projects over the years with the Carers Federation, at the moment we are supporting young carers from Nottinghamshire with outdoor opportunities on Saturdays aiming to build confidence and introducing the young people to new sports and clubs where they can continue to engage in the outdoor environment.
